Censorship or freedom of thought, belief, opinion & expression?

The local library board has chosen to not put filters on its' computers to "protect the children" from viewing porn. And I for one, applaud them. After all censorship is a slippery slope & had they decided to cave in to pressure from parents, no one would be able to access sites that have info on things related to porn. Such as sexually transmitted diseases, teen pregnancy, heck pregnancy in general, etc etc.

Although of course parents are up in arms over this & I don't really get why. I mean why not supervise your kid(s) while at the library. And at home there are a couple of things you can do to make sure your kid(s) don't see what you don't want them to see.

1. Make sure that the computer is a place you can easily view. In other words, don't let your kid(s) have a computer in their room. And 2. Install parental controls. Yes, it is that easy folks.

Poor people should be sterilized.

I mean honestly, if you must decide whether to pay your rent/bills or buy groceries, you're too poor to have a child. After all raising a child from birth to age 18 is $200,000+, so if you can't afford to provide shelter food and clothes, you should be sterilized!

Deport them already!

By "them" I'm refering to U.S. military deserters. Last time I checked, the U.S. does not have a draft. So if one enlists in the U.S. military, they choose to do so knowing that they might be called to serve & if one suddenly decide to seek refuge in another country so as to avoid serving, one should deported back to the U.S.

Elizabeth May allowed in debates.

With that being said, I really don't give a damn that the green party is now allowed in debates. Although, Elizabeth May is nothing more than a cheerleader for the Liberal Party, so why she's the leader of the green party, I do not know. What I do know is that the only people who have a chance of becoming Prime Minister are Stephen Harper & Stephane Dion. Therefore it's pointless to have more than two parties represented in debates. Come to think of it, perhaps that's why U.S. politics is more interesting than Canadian politics.

Abolish political parties!

Ok, you might think I'm a radical based on the title & maybe I am. No matter what you think though, I stand by my conviction that political parties must be abolished. Why, you ask? Because political parties ignore the individual, of which political parties wouldn't exist since they're made up of individuals. And if you join a political party (no matter which) you must put party loyalty ahead of your loyalites to anything else. And besides, there are no political parties in municipal elections, so why don't we have political parties at the provincial & federal levels?

I wish people would just drop it already.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Bristol palin is five months pregnant & already I'm sick and tired of it being the..... big issue (for lack of better words) this week. And I wish the media would stop discussing it. I mean aren't there bigger issues to worry about, such as Iran developing nukes say?

So much for "abstience only".

Unless You've been living under a rock for the 24 hours, you know Sarah Palin's teenage daughter is knocked up. And while it's unfortunate that there have been attacks against her daughter being knocked up, well, considering Sarah Palin has made what women do in private a major issue, by preaching abstience & what not, the fact that her teenage daughter is knocked up is fair game. Doesn't make it right, of course, but if you're going to preach abstience, you should do whatever's necessary to make sure that your own child isn't sexually active.

Is Trig really Sarah Palin's?

Over the past couple of days, I noticed that there are rumors on the web that Sarah Palin's fifth child is really her teenage daughter's & I don't know what to think. Is it her's or her daughter's????

I'd like to hear opinions from both sides.

My reasons for not wanting kids.

1. I have very very very little patience
2. I hate mess
3. I love peace & quiet
4. I'm not much of a nurturing person, it's not that I'm cold, just that my nurturing ability only goes as far ooing & awing over dogs/cats/babies.
5. I love to sleep & having kids would require getting up at odd times of the night.

And those things alone would disqualify me from being a good parent.
